PWN Flash Webinar: Establishing National Primary Drinking Water Regulations under the Safe Drinking Water Act

The Private Water Network hosted its second quarterly webinar on June 24, 2020 on Establishing National Primary Drinking Water Regulations under the Safe Drinking Water Act. Dr. Ryan Albert, the Chief of the Standards and Risk Reduction Branch (SRRB) at the EPA’s Office of Groundwater and Drinking Water, shared his insights on the EPA’s method to set Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCL) and Maximum Contaminant Level Goals (MCLG) for public drinking water systems.

Dr. Albert is the Chief of the Standards and Risk Reduction Branch (SRRB) at the EPA’s Office of Groundwater and Drinking Water. The Standards and Risk Reduction Branch is responsible for establishing national drinking water-related policies and regulations related to microbial pathogens, disinfection byproducts, cyanotoxins, and PFAS. Dr. Albert has 16 years of experience at EPA, including work related to developing and implementing EPA’s drinking water regulations, stormwater management, ballast water and vessel regulation, and managing interbasin water transfers.
